A HEALTHY INCREASE IN CONSTRUCTION WORK IN RIPON & THIRSK
Joplings Architecture and Building Surveying
Since the beginning of 2015 the workload in the architecture and surveying department in Ripon has experienced a significant rise. There has been a renewed interest in project work which was previously put on hold due to the financial downturn and a lack of confidence. However, this year has seen clients looking to move forward with plans to start construction works to their homes or businesses. The projects on site range from a kitchen extension to the rear of a modern bungalow, to a refurbishment and repair works to a Grade 2 Listed home in the centre of Ripon.
Our involvement starts at the very beginning as we have the ability to provide sound advice relating to building costs. We talk through our client’s proposals and advise as to whether the work will stack up financially by reviewing expenditure and calculating the completed market value. This is extremely important to both parties, as we are often in the fortunate position where we are asked to sell the property when our clients decide to move. Our instructions typically come through us carrying out a building survey on the property prior to our client purchasing. Once the sale has completed and our client moves in we are then asked back to provide design advise and prepare drawings for planning permission and building regulation approval. This is when you hope you have made sure you have carried out the survey as diligently as possible and picked up all defects!
If you are considering extending your property or improving it, then contact us for a FREE consultation. We can provide design advice and budget costings, to enable you to make an informed decision on your project.
